MOU with NALSAR

TEXT OF THE MOU
SIGNED BETWEEN THE ICSI
AND NALSAR UNIVERSITY OF LAW


MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This Memorandum of Understanding arrived at this 10th Day of April, 2004

Between

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, (hereinafter referred to as The ICSI) a professional body constituted under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980 (56 of 1980) for the regulation and development of the profession of Company Secretaries, and having its Headquarters at ICSI House, 22 Institutional Area, Lodi Road, New Delhi.

And

NALSAR University of Law, (hereinafter referred to as NALSAR), a University for Legal Studies and Research established under the Andhra Pradesh Act, 1998 (34 of 1998) and recognized under section 12-B of the U.G.C. Act, 1956 and having its Academy at Justice City, Shameerpet, R.R. District, the adjoining district of Hyderabad.

  1. After detailed deliberations both The ICSI and NALSAR have appreciated each others activities in promoting excellence in professional and legal education and are desirous of entering into an MOU for mutual benefit and advantage. Both the parties hereto have identified the following areas and agree to mutually co-operate to the fullest extent.

    1. Hold jointly workshops, seminars, continuing education and training programmes for practicing professionals and corporate executives on themes of topical and professional interest on equal surplus/deficit sharing basis.
    2. Regularly exchange journals published by the parties hereto on a complimentary basis with liberty to reproduce in each others publications such portion or portions which may be of interest, subject to acknowledging the source.
    3. Regularly exchange course materials, case studies, research publications and other academic and research inputs.
    4. Undertake joint research projects which are mutually beneficial.
    5. Reciprocate participation in National and International conferences organized by the parties hereto.
    6. Extend help and co-operation in developing curriculum of academic and continuing education programmes, on such terms as may be mutually agreed to including Joint Meeting of Curriculum Development Committees.
    7. NALSAR to recognize the membership of the ICSI as equivalent to Masters degree for the purpose of pursuing Ph.D. Course in Business Laws, Corporate Laws in NALSAR University of Law. The ICSI also agrees to identify papers of its Intermediate examination from which exemption may be granted to those who have passed MBL/B.A. LLB (Hons.) courses from NALSAR and wish to pursue the Company Secretaryship course.
    8. Exchange of faculties as may be mutually agreed subject to convenience of the parties hereto.
    9. Organize programmes jointly for training the trainers for mutual benefit and advantage.
    10. Any other matter of mutual interest including sharing of facilities like infrastructure, library, reading room etc., as may be mutually agreed.
  2. This MOU is subject to approval of the respective Councils of the parties hereto and subject to such changes as may be desired. The parties will exchange letters of ratification of this MOU hereto whereupon this MOU becomes effective and operative, in full or in part.
  3. The ICSI and NALSAR agree to constitute a Joint Standing Committee, which will meet as often as necessary for over seeing the implementation of this MOU. The Joint Committee shall consist of :
    1. The President and the Secretary of the ICSI or their nominees.
    2. The Director and the Registrar of NALSAR or their nominees.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF BOTH THE PARTIES HAVE SIGNED THIS AGREEMENT ON THIS 10TH DAY OF APRIL, 2004 AT 10.00 AM.
