REPORTS OF THE PROGRAMMES ORGANISED BY THE HOOGHLY CHAPTER DURING THE MONTHS OF NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, 2015 & JANUARY, 2016 

ONE DAY CLASS ROOM TEACHING FOR CS STUDENTS HELD ON 1ST NOVEMBER, 2015: 

On 1st November, 2015 Chapter organised a Full-Day Class Room Teaching” for the CS Students appearing for CS December, 2015 Examinations on the topic “SMART TIPS FOR THE STUDENTS TO PERFORM EXCEL IN THE ENSUING CS DECEMBER, 2015 EXAMINATIONS” at  Conference Hall of Hooghly Chapter. CS Gautam Dugar (Past Chairman, Hooghly Chapter and Member – EIRC), Practising Company Secretary and Ravi Varma, Company Secretary, taken the Session on the said topic. This Class Room Teaching was conducted by the Chapter free of cost for the benefits of students and the participating students were greatly benefitted for their ensuing CS Examinations. 

HALF-DAY WORKSHOP HELD ON 20TH DECEMBER, 2015: 

On 20th December, 2015 Chapter organised a Half-Day Workshop on the topic “Change to Stake Holder Economy, Role of CS as Profession” at the Conference Hall of Hooghly Chapter, Rishra. CS Saibal Chandra Pal, Ex-Company Secretary & Vice-President (Legal), SMIFS Capital Markets Ltd.), Advocate (Patent & Trade Mark Attorney) & Financial Resource Person – SEBI, was the Guest Speaker.  The Session was very informative and well appreciated by the gathering. There was question-answer session and the queries raised by the participants were suitably replied by the Guest Speaker. More than 30 members / students and office bearers / members of the Managing Committee attended the programme. 

2ND ANNUAL MEMBERS’ CONFERENCE HELD ON 10TH JANUARY, 2016: 

On 10th January, 2016 Chapter organised its 2nd Annual Members’ Conference at the Conference Hall of Ratnakar North Point School, Howrah. Distinguished Speakers namely, CS Manoj Banthia, (Past Chairman, EIRC of ICSI), Practising Company Secretary, addressed the gathering on the topic “Applicability of The Companies Act, 2013 to Private Companies”; CS Rajesh Poddar (Past Chairman, EIRC of ICSI), Deputy Company Secretary, ITC Limited, addressed the participants on the topic Compliances under SEBI ( Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015” and CS Mrityunjay Acharjee, Associate Vice-President (Taxation & Audit), Balmer Lawrie & Co. Limited, addressed on the topic “Companies (Accounts) Rules and Implication of Indian Accounting Standard in Company Accounts”. The Conference was well appreciated by the participants at large. There was question-answer sessions and the queries raised by the participants were suitably replied by the Speakers. It was an overwhelming response from the members and students by attending this Mega Event of the Chapter. More than 150 members / students and office bearers / members of the Managing Committee attended the same. 

INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON 17TH JANUARY, 2016 AT RATNAKAR NORTH POINT SCHOOL, HOWRAH: 

On 17th January, 2016 Chapter organised an Investor Awareness Programme, under the aegis of Investor Education and Protection Fund, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, at the Conference Hall of Ratnakar North Point School, Howrah. 

CS  Saibal Chandra Pal, (Ex.Vice-President & Company Secretary, SMIFS Capital Markets Ltd.), Advocate (Patent & Trade Mark Attorney) & Financial Resource Person – SEBI and  Shri Ashok Kumar Gangwal, Stock & Commodity Market Analyst, were the Guest Speakers. They jointly addressed the participants as to (a) how to read a Prospectus highlighting specific areas such as Management of the company, financial capabilities, nature of the product, current scenario and future prospects of the company; (b) opening of Demat Account; (c) filling of Application forms; (d) guidance about Book Building process; (e ) access to intermediary like stock brokers, depositary participants; (f) mode of payment; (g) possible course of action in case of non - receipt of communication regarding credit of dematerialized shares/refund order; (h) rights of investors in general; (i) nomination of shares or other securities etc. An Interactive question-answer session on the topic was held and the speaker suitably replied to the queries raised by the participants. There was huge gathering of more than 150 participants attended the programme. 

INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON 23RD JANUARY, 2016 AT VIKRAM VIDYALAYA (MAIN), SALKIA, HOWRAH: 

On 23rd January, 2016 Chapter organised an Investor Awareness Programme, under the aegis of Investor Education and Protection Fund, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, at Vikram Vidyalaya (Main), Salkia, Howrah. 

Shri Ashok Kumar Gangwal, Stock & Commodity Market Analyst, was the Guest Speaker. This programme advised investors including guiding them with respect to (a) How to read a Prospectus highlighting specific areas such as Management of the company, financial capabilities, nature of the product, current scenario and future prospects of the company; (b) how to read a Annual Report of the Company;  (c) Listing of Securities; (d) Opening of Demat Account; (e) Filling  of Application forms; (f) Guidance about Book Building process; (g) access to intermediary like stock brokers, depositary participants; (h) mode of payment; (i) possible course of action in case of non - receipt of communication regarding credit of dematerialized shares/refund order; (j) rights of investors in general; (k) nomination of shares or other securities etc.(k) fraudulent activities prevailing in the market in context of chit funds & Ponzi schemes with recent examples; (l) Investor Grievance Redressal Mechanism – whom to approach for various complaints; (m) Do’s and Don’t for Investors – Company Fixed Deposits; Insurance Policies; Government Schemes; Banking; Collective / Investment Schemes etc. An Interactive question-answer session was held where the speaker suitably replied to the queries raised by the participants. There was huge gathering of more than 110 participants attended the programme. 

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION ON 26TH JANUARY, 2016: 

On 26th January, 2016, Hooghly Chapter of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India  celebrated the 67th Republic Day of India at its premises at, Rishra, Hooghly. CS Aditya Purohit, Chairman, CS Rajan Singh, Secretary, CS Arun Kumar Singhania, Founder Member of the Chapter hoisted the National Flag followed by National Anthem in the presence of Members, Students, officials of the Institute and local school students and general public. A live Debate on “Current Scenario of India” was organised where members and students participated in the event. A colorful cultural programme comprising of patriotic songs was performed by the members and students present. The programme concluded with refreshment. 

HALF-DAY WORKSHOP HELD ON 31ST JANUARY, 2016: 

On 31st January, 2016 Hooghly Chapter organised a Half-Day Workshop at the Conference Hall of Hooghly Chapter, Rishra, Hooghly. CS Anup Kumar Sharma, Vice-President, VC Corporate Advisors Pvt. Ltd., addressed the gathering as Guest Speaker on the topic “Compliances of Listed Companies & Recent Changes” The programme was very useful and the same was well appreciated by the participants present. There was question-answer session and the queries raised by the participants were suitably replied by the Guest Speaker. More than 31 members / students and office bearers / members of the Managing Committee attended the programme.

CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAMMES: 

During the months of December, 2015 & January, 2016, Chapter organised thee Career Awareness Programmes (CAPs) at Sibpur Ambika Hindi High School (Howrah); Daulatpur Daluigatcha Bharati Vidyalaya (Girls’), Singur (Hooghly) and Berabari Surya Narayan Memorial High School, Singur (Hooghly) respectively. The Career Awareness Programme was conducted for the Class XI & XII students of the said school. Brochures of the CS Course were distributed among the students for their ready-made information of the CS Course. During the CAP, eligibility criteria for admission into Foundation Programme, Executive Programme and Professional Programmes; Course fees; Course fees for reserved categories; online admission procedure; cut-off dates of registration; subjects of each stage of Foundation, Executive & Professional Programmes; training procedure; distance learning; examination schedule; medium of examinations, career prospect; employment and practising opportunities etc. were elaborately explained to the students. There were open interaction between the speakers and the students.

 

Annual Membership Scheme (AMS) for 2016 (from 1st February, 2016 to 31st January, 2017)

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP SCHEME (AMS) OF HOOGHLY CHAPTER FOR 2016

Hooghly Chapter of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has brought to you the Annual Membership Scheme (AMS) for 2016 (from 1st February, 2016 to 31st January, 2017). Hooghly Chapter plans to organize High Value Programmes on current / important topics. The commitment for minimum number of programmes is mentioned herein below, however, it is expected to organize even greater number of programmes, which the members / professionals / students of ICSI of this scheme will be entitled to attend.

The AMS Scheme will be effective from 1st February, 2016 to 31st January, 2017.

Programmes on offer (minimum):

Six (6)  Full-Day Seminars

Twelve (12) Half-Day Workshops

Ten (10) Study Circle Meetings / Interactive Meetings

Annual Members’ Conference

Meeting on Union Budget 

PCH for Members:

One (1) Program Credit Hour (PCH) for Study Circle Meeting 

Two (2) Program Credit Hours (PCH) for Half-Day Workshop 

Four (4) Program Credit Hours (PCH) for Full-Day Seminar/Conference

PDP for students:

Four (4) PDP Hours for Half-Day Workshop

Eight (8) PDP Hours for Full-Day Seminar / Conference

Annual Fee (inclusive of Service Tax @ 14.5%):

Rs.5,500/- each for Corporate Members

Rs.3,500/- each for Practising Member/Self-employed / Individuals 

Rs.2,000/- each for Students of ICSI

Mode of Payment:

Payment may be made in cash or by cheque/ DD drawn in favour of “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India – Hooghly Chapter”

Members / Professionals / Students may fill up the attached registration form and submit the same along with the requisite fee to the Executive Officer, Hooghly Chapter of EIRC of ICSI, ‘Krishikunj Apartment’ 89/114/2, D. N. Banerjee Street, Rishra, Hooghly 712 248. Please register for the Scheme at an early date to avail the maximum benefit.

Corporates are kindly requested to provide patronage by opting for multiple registrations under the AMS.
